ILLINOIS DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SERVICES� (IL DHS�) mission is to assist Illinois residents to achieve self sufficiency, independence, and health to the maximum extent possible by: providing integrated family-oriented services, promoting prevention, and establishing measurable outcomes, in partnership with communities. IL DHS provides structured job search and unpaid work experience. They also provide support services that include childcare, transportation, and initial employment expense assistance. Customers may access an online application for cash, food, and Medicaid assistance at www.idhslink.com. The application for benefits process begins only when the customer delivers the completed form to their DHS local office. They may mail it, fax it, or personally bring it into the office that will serve them.
