Newark Day Nursery and Childrens Center was founded in 1961 serving only 5 children, and has grown to a center serving 180 children daily. It began from the vision of several citizen-activists who saw an unmet need of working families for both high quality and affordable child care. Through milestones such as acceptance as a United Way of Delaware agency, achieving the first of several national accreditations, and acquiring a 5 acre facility for expansion, their vision has led to thousands of children being served. Our mission still reflects our original vision:"NDNCC is dedicated to providing the highest quality early childhood and school age services to educate, enrich, and inspire children and youth from culturally and economically diverse families."We believe: each child is unique and has individual social, emotional, cognitive and physical needs. We provide developmentally appropriate programming that supports the process of learning and allows children to enjoy successful experiences. We value not just learning, but the love of learning as well. parents are the most significant adults in a childs life. Entrusting your child with us implies a special partnership to support your childs health, growth, education and success. We work to create mutual respect between the parent and staff by promoting daily communication and offering many opportunities for parent involvement. in the value of cultural, economic and racial diversity from our employees, the children we care for, and their parents.
